Real fiscal responsibility

Because our food is donated, Feeding America West Michigan Food Bank can distribute food for the cost of fuel, fleet maintenance, utilities, warehousing and other distribution costs.

These costs are covered in part by donations from supporters like you, and partly by a “Shared Maintenance fee” from the 1,300 local anti-hunger agencies we supply. This fee amounts to about 10% of the food’s retail value. If they had to pay more, many local agencies simply couldn’t keep going.

A whopping 98.9% of our expenses goes directly into hunger relief programs. Only 1.1% goes to Administration and Fund-raising. Click here to see our financial statement.

We’re so careful with money that Charity Navigator has awarded us its highest rating for three years in a row. Click here to learn more about the Charity Navigator award.
