About 20% of the donated food that comes to us has special handling requirements. We utilize an abundance of volunteers. We can accommodate individuals and groups. Children under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult. We ask that all volunteers wear closed shoes for safety. We suggest older clothing and extra layers during cooler weather. Shorts are permitted in warmer weather.

In The Fields

We also need volunteers to "glean" or pick produce from local farms and orchards. The gleaning season generally begins in late June and runs through October. We pick a variety of fruits and vegetables including strawberries, tomatoes, and apples. In 2008, this program brought in over 20,000 pounds of fresh produce to feed the needy. Over 200 volunteers as well as 8 area growers participated in the program.
