In addition to our day to day activities, we also sometimes need volunteers to help with special events. Here are some opportunities that are coming up in the near future:
Volunteer Events
May 11: NALC Food Drive
Once again, the National Association of Letter Carriers will host a large-scale food drive for hunger-relief organizations across the United States. On Saturday, May 11, your local Letter Carrier will be collecting donations from doorsteps on their regular routes. To donate, just leave any non-perishable products you wish to contribute next to your mailbox Saturday morning. You can find out more about the history of the food drive here.
To volunteer during the food drive, log in to The Volunteer Center and pick a place and time that work for you.
Weekdays in the reclamation department
The busiest times at the Food Bank — the times when we could use your help the most — are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons. You’ll help us sort food and household goods from some of our top donors. Because it involves some bending and lifting, this opportunity is ideal for able-bodied volunteers 12 and up. Youth groups, college clubs, and corporate service teams are welcome. See our volunteer calendar for available dates.
Saturdays in the reclamation department
Help sort donated food in our warehouse between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on alternating Saturdays. This opportunity is perfect for youth groups, college clubs, and corporate service outings. Groups of up to 25 are welcome. See our volunteer calendar for available dates.
